Migrate from Microsoft Project
From Microsoft Project to Intlexl.
Upload a project file and it becomes a sheet: tasks with their outline, predecessors as dependencies, resources as members, and fields as columns.
What you provide
A Microsoft Project file saved as XML: File, Save As, XML (MSPDI).
How it works
Four steps, and you approve the last one.
- 1
Upload
Add the project file in the import centre. Each file is one project.
- 2
Check
Intlexl reads the file and shows the project it contains.
- 3
Map
Review how tasks, resources and custom fields will land as rows, members and columns.
- 4
Import
Approve the import and read the report.
What maps to what
Where each part of your data lands.
Project
Sheet
One file becomes one sheet.
Tasks and outline
Parent and child rows
The outline structure becomes row hierarchy.
Predecessors
Dependencies
Link types (FS, SS, FF, SF) and lag are carried across.
Resources and assignments
Members and contact cells
The resource list becomes members, and assignments become contact cells.
Standard and custom task fields
Columns
Fields are turned into typed columns during mapping.
Duration and dates
Duration, start and finish
Durations convert to working days.
Worth a look
What the import asks you to review.
- Each project file is a separate sheet. Group them into a workspace to see them as a programme.
- Resource levelling settings have no equivalent. Capacity is read from owners and dates by the resource manager instead.
- Anything the mapper is not sure of is flagged in the report.
After the import
Put the agents to work.
Add the imported sheets to a resource manager to see weekly capacity for everyone who owns a task, and let the Forecasting agent project each schedule.
